Hey guys! We're trying to get swts back on it's feet so last night I emailed Elliot and he answered a few questions for us!
eHow do you feel about the re-release of H&H?I feel awesome about it, for me i feel like those songs are finally where they needed to be. There's something really great about how we wrote them and i have a lot stronger emotional connection to them than i thought i did. We had the CD re release for it in Chicago at Pete's bar Angels And Kings and that went better than expected also. I think the whole journey with H&H so far has been a lot of unexpected attention and positive reactions.
How was it like traveling up to Chicago and playing a show?We really made the most of our trip. Made it out to the Warped Tour in Indiana, did some promo and a hot topic acoustic show. Radio interviews, photo shoots, cd release show, and then the congress theater show. It was really awesome to just be out of the road again with people i love and playing again for beautiful people. are you're all beautiful.
What do you think makes you stand out among all the different bands in this "scene"?We do our best to write timeless music that will still be good in ten and twenty years and not write for the trend, or whats selling right now. A lot of bands care so much about being the 'it' band, but non of them fail to realize a musicians career is short enough as it is, don't be a neon electronic synth band because everyone else is. There's a lot of bands out there claiming to be bands, when they're the farthest thing from it.
And to get song specific, Bitterwsweet Harmony is a powerful emotional song, who wrote it? Was it a group thing or did someone write it and everyone agreed it was a fantastic song?Thank you, Bittersweet Harmony was written by all of us. It's funny the way we write because we've all known each other for so long and played together for so many years that we often predict each others moves. If i ask marc to play something on piano, he know's where i want the chords to go. Or if Chris and Sky and I are writing lyrics they know what I'm trying to say before i say it. I guess that's part of the challenge for me personally as well, saying what i want to say the way i want to say it. When i write lyrics i use a lot of metaphors. If you think I'm talking about something, i'm probably talking about something else. Bittersweet made sense, the song wrote itself. We all sing on it. We all did our part. It was the right song to put on a close on unfinished business. It sheds light on where we've all been and the changes we were going through before coming together to play music together.
